WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY-Invitation of entries for poetry book

In
association with DIEMR, DAV Centre For Environment Education
and DAV Centre For Creative Education have decided to
celebrate World Environment Day on June 5, 2008. As part of
the activities for the day a poetry book on environmental
concerns and issues will be printed which will consist of
selected poems penned by teachers, parents and students of
DAV schools. Entries from students of non-DAV schools are
also welcome.
The
objective of this publication is to educate learners and the
community about environmental concerns, responses to these
concerns, and promote responsible environmental behavior
through poetry.
In reviewing the entries, the judges will look for
understanding of theme, originality, ability to convey a
concept, and creative thinking and writing. The creator of
each published poem will receive a certificate in addition
to being featured in the book. The poets are free to choose
any topic on environment that is of relevance and concern
these days.
Some topics to ignite the creativity of contributors are
listed herein:
Eco-shockers, trees, global
warming, forests, wildlife, glaciers, climate change,
renewable energy, water conservation, smog, pollution,
noise, dust, odors, fumes, exhausts, mangroves, vanishing
wildlife and plants, floods, landslides.

INCENTIVE/ PRIZE FOR PARTICIPATION |
First Prize: Rs.1500/-, Second Prize:
Rs.1000/-, Third Prize: Rs.500/- for each category-
sub-junior, junior and senior. Teachers will receive an
incentive of Rs.1000/- for their published poem.
Certificate of appreciation to others whose poetry is
published. |
